Obituary for William Nelson Pulk Sr.

Robbinston – William Nelson Pulk Sr., 74, passed away surrounded by his family Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Calais Regional Hospital. Billy was born on March 28, 1943, son of Raymond Pulk Sr. and Mary (Skidds) Pulk.

He started driving truck in Boston at the age of 15 until returning to Eastport where he worked at Mearl Corp. On January 25, 1964, Billy married his love, Sandra Chisholm. Shortly after he started his career with Georgia Pacific, retiring as a boiler engineer with 42 years of service. Billy was a member of the Quarter Century Club at GP, served as President of Calais High School Sports Boosters Club, President of the local union at GP, enjoyed many years coaching little league, and served as Captain for Calais Fire Dept. Red Beach Station. An avid outdoorsman, Billy loved hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp on Nash’s Lake. One of his most enjoyable pastimes was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Gladys Ramsdell, Raymond Pulk Jr., Lillian Seeley, Ruthie Anderson, and Sharon Ackerman; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Marion Chisholm. Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Sandra Pulk; two children, William Pulk Jr. and wife Rhonda of Red Beach, and Penny Johnson and husband Gerald of Robbinston; nine grandchildren, Ryan Johnson and fiancé Kaylee Brown of Robbinston, Kyle Johnson of Robbinston, and Buddy Day, Alyssa Young, Britany Pulk, Christopher Pulk, and Logan Pulk, all of Texas, Kristen Turcotte of Mechanic Falls, and Kayla Snider of Red Beach; four great-grandchildren, Blake Johnson, Ryan Turcotte, and Annabelle and Keith Snider; siblings Muriel Pulk, Mike and Artie O’Connell, Catherine Tinker, Jayne Chaffey and Irene Ray; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Lyons and husband Robert of Red Beach, and Beverly Pulk of Pembroke; brother-in-law Richard Chisholm of Red Beach; special cousin Kathy Bryant of So. Portland; dear friends, Alden and Donna Mingo of Red Beach, and Ann Brackett of Calais; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Brewer Cemetery in Robbinston. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.maysfuneralhome.com
