Alexander – Tom Smith, 75, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Tom was born in Machias on July 12, 1946.

After graduating from Calais High School, Class of 1964, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following his service he returned home to Maine and drilled wells for Lord’s Well Drilling and hauled logs for Arnold Beaupre. Eventually Tom started his career with the Maine Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Florence (Anderson) Frost; and a granddaughter Victoria Smith. Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Sandra (Christie) Smith; two children, Kevin Smith of Chapin, SC, and Tiffany Lindsey of Kennesaw, GA; three grandchildren, Brooke, Emily and Anslee; and his sister Sherry Bell and husband Kent of Forrest, VA.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Alexander Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
