Terry J. Hurley, a cherished son, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 51. Born in Norwich, New York, on April 24, 1974, to James and Judith Hurley, Terry's journey took him from the bustling streets of New York to the serene beauty of Pembroke, Maine.
Terry, a North Rockland High School alumnus, discovered his life's passion in carpentry, a craft he honed with dedication and skill. His love for nature, the outdoors, and the serenity of Maine, was evident in his work, constructing not just buildings, but memories that would stand the test of time. An avid fisherman, hunter, and hiker, Terry had an eagle's eye for detail, which served him well in his love for mushroom hunting. His love for music was infectious, with the radio often serving as his loyal companion. Yet, Terry was not just a craftsman with wood, but also with the pencil, his artistic talent often coming alive on paper in his spare time.
Preceded in death by his father, James Hurley, and sisters, Michelle and Kathleen Hurley, Terry leaves behind his mother, Judith Hurley; a daughter Taylor Hurley, sister, Jaime Hurley; nephew, Joseph Hurley; his very good friend, Alayne Keiser; many other friends; and his beloved canine companions, Nova and Nancy. Terry's life was a testament to his courage, resilience, and his unfailing kindness. His legacy will live on, not just in the memories of those who knew him, but also in the structures he built with love and precision.
Terry will be laid to rest at the family plot in St. John's in the Wilderness Cemetery in Stony Point, NY. Arrangements are being handled by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. We invite all who knew Terry to share their fondest memories and upload photos to his memorial page at www.MaysFuneralHome.com. In these shared moments, we can collectively remember and celebrate the remarkable life of Terry J. Hurley.
