Serge Anthony Newell, 45, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 14, 2022, at his home in Indian Township. Serge was born in Calais on April 19, 1977, son of Joseph Mitchell Sr. and Karen Ann Newell.
Serge was a proud Passamaquoddy man, he worked with his favorite brother Adam as a lobsterman and carpenter and was known by his friends and family to be a jokester, and even though he couldn’t carry a tune loved to sing his hard rock songs from his favorite bands, AC/DC, Guns & Roses, and Jimi Hendrix. He loved running, camping, wrestling, hunting, gaming, and cats. Above all else though he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Serge is predeceased by his mother, his adoptive parents Mary Norma Newell, Kenneth Newell Sr., his Great Aunt Catherine Nicolas who raised him, his brother Conrad and sister Violet, and his adoptive brother Kenny; Surviving are his father Joseph Mitchell Sr.; his three children Cree Newell, Rayne Newell, and Serge Newell; brothers and sisters, Kathy, Betty, Betty, Joseph, Joseph Jr., Sherrie, Bertha, Tonya, Lee Ann, Carrie, Joseph, Kristy, Adam; Grandchildren Leah Harnois, Karen Ann Newell, Mary Stevens, Maverick Gidney, Adoptive siblings Perry, Rhonda, Kate, Marie, Judy; Godchildren, Kenny, Amber, and Jeffery; Lacey who he loved like a sister, special friend Jeffery Smiley; one special great uncle Tony Nicholas; husbands and wives significant others, and too many other brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews to list.
Visitation will begin 11:00 am Thursday, October 20, 2022 at his brother Adam’s house, 55 Bayview Drive, Pleasant Point and end 11:00 am Saturday, October 22, 2022. A graveside service will be held at the Pleasant Point Tribal Cemetery 11:00 am Tuesday, October 24, 2022. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
