Sally Claire Newell, 79, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Sally was born in Whitefield, New Hampshire, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gold.
Sally's life was a rich tapestry of love, dedication, and service. Upon relocating to Calais, she served as a housekeeper in local motels, a job she embraced with grace and dignity. It was here that she met her soulmate, Leroy "Jackson" Newell. Together, they created a life filled with joy, laughter, and endless love. Sally was a community stalwart, always ready to lend a hand at local events. Her passion for cooking, baking, and old-style country music warmed many hearts and homes, making her an unforgettable part of Pleasant Point.
Later in life, Sally discovered a love for crocheting, crafting hats and mittens for local children and cancer patients. Her creations were more than just garments; they were symbols of her love, care, and kindness. Every stitch was a testament to her generosity, selflessness, and compassion. Sally's most cherished moments, however, were spent with her family, particularly her adored grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Sally was predeceased by her mother-in-law Josephine Newell; and brothers-in-law Robert and Arthur Newell. Surviving are her husband Leroy Jackson Newell; her son Leroy Newell Jr. .and companion Mindy Brown of Perry; Son-in-Law Roland Newell Sr. and wife Susan; four grandchildren, Makayla Newell and fiancé Kaleb Fisher of Gardiner, Kelsi Newell and companion Darien Newell of Calais, Tierra Newell and companion Zachary of Calais, and Dayna Newell of Pleasant Point; two great-grandchildren, Keegan Newell and Mya Fisher; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roland Newell of Pleasant Point, Charles and Sue Newell of Calais, Anita Socoby of NB, Mary Creighton of Bowdoin, and Ella Salvo of NH; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Loretta Dow of Pleasant Point, Alberta Lewey of Pleasant Point, Liane Grodewald of Eastport, and Shirley Mitchell of Bangor.
