Eastport

Sally Rebecca Minnick, 84, passed away Friday September 15th, 2023 at her home in Eastport Maine.

She was born in Eastport, then moved to Dixfield, Maine when her father was transferred as Manager at the Eastport Newberry’s store to the Rumford store.  Sally then lived in Ithaca, NY and in 1957 graduated from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. After college she moved to San Francisco where she lived for over 30 years.  She retired from First Interstate Bank of California as Assistant Vice President of Check Processing, Fremont Division.

As a lover of cats, she fed the neighborhood cats at her back door every day. She especially loved her own cats and her “pet “seagull that visited her house daily.  She was a gifted landscape artist and created several paintings and sketches over the years. She loved to cook and was an avid gardener and preservationist when it came to her home and garden.  Being the eldest child, she was a resource of knowledge for family history and stayed close to many cousins.

In addition to her parents, Paul Minnick (d. 1997), and Mildred Malloch Minnick (d.2008) she was also predeceased by her loving sister, Joyce Minnick Robertson (d. 2016), and her grandparents, Frank and Evelyn Malloch of Eastport.

Surviving are her brother David Minnick and wife Debbie of Ithaca, NY: niece Christine Robertson of Oneida NY; nieces and nephew – Melissa, Bethany, Meredith, Andrew (Jess) of Ithaca NY., and 7 great nieces and nephew.

Also surviving are her special cousins, Priscilla Ford (John) of Jefferson City, MO; George Malloch (Linda) of Gorham, Maine; and Richard (Karen) McCutcheon of New Mexico, all formerly of Eastport.

Sally will be missed by all of those that loved her.

A small  family ceremony was held in Eastport.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
