Obituary for Ruth Margaret Beaulieu (Savage)

Eastport – Ruth M. Beaulieu, 89, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2016 at Calais Regional Hospital. Ruth was born on September 21, 1926, daughter of Walter and Helen (Cookson) Savage in Eastport, where she spent her childhood and later graduated from Shead Memorial High School, class of 1944.

After graduating she worked at several of the local sardine companies before moving, she relocated to Boston then Portland and later Lewiston. Ruth was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 22 in Lewiston where she worked for many years as a bartender. In her later years she enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together and watching Animal Planet.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by two husbands, Alfred Stevenson Jr. and Wendell G. Beaulieu and a sister, Doris Watson.

She is survived by her three children, Peggy Williams and her husband Mike of Eastport, Larry Stevenson and his ex-wife Robin of MA and Ronny Stevenson and his ex-wife Jeannette of CT; seven grandchildren, Lara, Blaine, Lee, Ethan, Jordan, Nathan and Kendall; three great grandchildren, Braydon, Jacob and Audrey; a sister, Betty Jean Hibbard of Bangor and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m., Saturday, August 27th at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
