Ruth A Sawyer

April 22, 1969 — September 1, 2023

Pembroke

Our Youngest sister Ruth (Ruthie) Ann Sawyer went home to be with Jesus on September 1, 2023. Ruthie was born April 22, 1969, to George and Muriel (Strout) Sawyer.

Ruthie was an artist, writer of stories and plays for her nephews and nieces. Ruthie was a caregiver her entire life but found time for her hobbies of scrapbooking and her collection of barbie dolls.

Ruthie had a special love for animals, and a very loving bond with her miniature horse, Loredo, who passed in 2021, and her dog Tanner, who recently passed in July 2023. Ruthie adored her guinea pigs Lacey and Teddy, cockatiel Isis, turtle Xavier, her pet chipmunk Brick and mice Moses and Bloss.

Ruthie had a very personal love and relationship with Jesus and dedicated her life serving the Lord as a small child. Throughout her life and illness, Ruthie continued to give God the glory each day, with her mantra being “Trust God and watch the miracles unfold.”

Ruthie was a true testimony, and witnessed to those she met, wishing they, her family and friends to know Jesus as their personal Savior. To know Ruthie was not only to see the Love of God, but to see her love for him as she continues even now in heaven.

Ruthie is predeceased by her parents George and Muriel Sawyer, half-brother William and a sister’s unborn child.

Ruthie is survived by her brothers David of Holden, Edward (Yunjuyi) of Anchorage, Kenneth (Wendy) of Whitneyville, Charles of Pembroke; sisters Marie Mills (Andy) of Dennysville, Karen Stevens of Calais, and Lillian of Calais.

Ruthie is also survived by nieces and nephews David Jr, Corbin (Sarosha) Sawyer of Wildwood, MO; Aaron Sawyer (Ashley) of Branson, MO; Sami (kenan) Sabado of Henderson, NV; Jason Mills (Amee) of Jonesboro, Tara Mills of Dennysville, Jeremy Mills of Rockland, Eric Sawyer (Jolene) of Machias, Kristen Sawyer (Matt) of Jacksonville, FL; Jillian Stevens Cowell ( Michael) of Ocala, FL; Bryan Stevens (Deb) of Calais, Danielle Preston of Eustis, Amanda Sawyer of Bucksport, and Kelly Sawyer (Sarah) of South Portland.

Ruthie will be missed by great nephews and nieces: Paige Caden, Kingston Sawyer, Jaden and Ryder Sabado, Isabelle Sawyer, Raistlin Mills, Brayden MacNichol (with whom Ruthie shared her love of horses) Harlee Leighton, Maggie Mills, Makayla Newell (her skip-bo partner) Kelsi Newell, Adida Edwards, Sontee Edwards, Elijah, Ariana and Malikai Cowell, Haley Way, Aubrey Stevens, Dreah Nichols, and Shawn Cushing.

Ruthie adored her great, great nephew Keegan Newell who nicknamed her “The Pink Girl” and great, great niece Jordyn Minoty.

Other extended family include special aunts, Nathalie Traffon, Lorayne Strout and Lucille Strout, along with numerous cousins.

Ruthie would want to mention special friends, Pastor Gary and Iva Kinney and family, Dawn Cummings, Roberta and Wayne Seeley and family, and of course her extended “Heart” family KJ Frisbee, Darien Newell, Matthew Minoty, John Cowell, Dakota York, Deb Townsend and Tracy Carrier.

All are welcome to come and share in the memory of our “angel on earth” Ruthie Ann, who is now our “Angel in Heaven”.

A Celebration and tribute to Ruthie will be on Saturday September 16, 2023, at 1:30 at the home of her niece Tara Mills (28 The Lane, Dennysville, ME). Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
