Ronald Lee MacArthur, aged 88, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2025. Born on March 27, 1937, in Alexander to Dan and Leola (Perkins) MacArthur, Ronald lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.
On March 17, 1959, Ronald married Patricia (McDonough), and together they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories. Known for being a hard worker with a lively spirit, Ronald was a very strong man who spent many years working in the woods, running skidder - he demonstrated his incredible resilience after surviving a serious accident when he was crushed by one so many years ago. Ronald had a passion for pony pulling, sharing joyful moments with family and friends, especially pulling buddies Uncle Stan Robbins and Larry Bailey, at state fairs. He also enjoyed tractor pulls and had a love for old cars that highlighted his appreciation for craftsmanship and history.
Ron had a playful personality that brought joy to those around him, often delighting his family and friends with his harmonica playing, singing an off-the-cuff ditty, and storytelling. He cherished family time, and the little pleasures in life like doing a little jig with his grandkids, sharing smiles with all the great-grandkids, and very much enjoyed the thrilling days of stock car racing with his son Jay at Cedar Mills. Additionally, Ron will be remembered for his many years spent plowing countless driveways, helping neighbors during the winter months.
In addition to his love for family, Ronald was remembered for his delicious biscuits and was a long time member and familiar face at the Princeton Baptist Church, where he dedicated many years to making Easter breakfast. A proud member of the Princeton Rod & Gun Club since its inception, he shared tall tales that brought smiles and laughter to everyone around him.
Ronald was predeceased by his parents, Dan & Leola; and his siblings: brothers Clifford, Hugh, Freemond, Douglas, and Dan Jr.; and sisters Dorothy, Lillian, and Audrey. He was also predeceased by his son Jay P. MacArthur, son-in-law Grover Brown, and grandsons Daniel Dwelley, Jayson Cehfus, and Tyson MacArthur.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Patricia MacArthur; children Creston (Jodi) MacArthur, Peta (Tim) Brown, daughter-in-law Linda MacArthur, Heidi (Brad) Potter, and Jeremy (Danielle) MacArthur. Ronald also leaves behind grandchildren: Veronica (Kyle), Emily, Candice, Curtis (Danielle), Anthony (Jessica), Brandi (Bob), Nick (Katie), Jaycie (Curtis), Wyatt (Abby), Courtney, and Bradley, and a host of great-grandchildren: Angel, Rosie, Lilyanne, Wesley, Haileigh, Curtis Jr, Katerina, Riley, Victoria, Jayson Jr, Mason, Seth, Ian, Emberleigh, Pierce, and Eli. Surviving siblings who will all forever cherish his memory are brothers Dale and Robert MacArthur, sisters Evelyn Littlefield, Jeanette Wellwood, and Mavis Mackenzie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family who he loved dearly.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27th, at the Princeton Baptist Church. Visitation 10:00 - 11:00am, and service starts at 11. Committal service to follow at Princeton Cemetery on West Street. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, and the family finds comfort knowing he is now home with the Lord.
