Obituary

Roger Craft, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Calais Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born on March 22, 1951, in Alexander, Roger was the son of the late Joyce and Gerald Craft. He dedicated over 30 years of his life working at the Woodland Mill before retiring. In his early days, he also spent time at the Calais Fire Station, cutting wood, plowing snow, or on his porch at his Garfield Street home entertaining and relaxing with a Bacardi and Diet Sprite with friends watching the shows Mash, The Riflemen, Perry Mason, Gun Smoke, and more. Roger was a volunteer fireman, an avid hunter, and he loved to fish. He loved spending time out to Howard Lake, Nash's Lake, the Legion, and the St. Croix Bowling Club playing cards and hanging with friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, past and present. Roger was predeceased by his wife, Diane Craft of Calais; siblings Joel Craft of Presque Isle, Brenda McPhail of Alexander, and Rodney Frost of Alexander; in-laws Harold Jones of Presque Isle, Dreena Craft of Caribou, Carolyn Frost of Waweig, NB, and Phil Gibson of Jupiter, FL; and niece Sara Frost of Waweig, NB. He is survived by his children: son Bob Craft and wife Amy, along with their son Jordan, of Milford; son Roger Craft Jr. and wife Bobbie, of Calais, along with grandchildren Dillon Craft, Dustin and Cassie Kennard, and Amber Pendleton. Roger also leaves behind his siblings: Geraldine Jones of Caribou, Lester Craft of Fort Fairfield, Timothy Frost of Waweig, NB, Terri Spooner and husband DJ of Castle Hill, Melonie Frost-Wells of Troy, IL, Lisa Frost Gardiner and partner Fred Getchell of Presque Isle, and Kimberly Frost and partner Shawn Keenan of Rochester, NH. A special niece, Sheri Gibson of Colorado, along with extended family and countless friends, will deeply miss him. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Eastport Memorial Nursing Home for their exceptional care and compassion over the past few years, as well as to Calais Community Hospital for the dignity and respect shown to Roger in his final days. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Alexander Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
