Robina Gabriel Gaddis, a vibrant soul who embraced life fully, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Calais Community Hospital. Born on March 11, 1919, in Black Point, New Brunswick, she was the cherished daughter of Lewis and Sophia (Bernard) Duplessis.
Raised in the serene community of Sunnyside, New Brunswick, Robina dedicated her early years to hard work and family. She moved to Upper Mills, where she not only contributed to the local cotton mill but also found love with John Gaddis. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and love, initially in Milltown, New Brunswick, and later moving to Calais in 1960.
Robina was a beacon of joy, finding happiness in activities that brought her closer to others. Her passion for dancing filled her home with warmth, while her knitting, embroidery, cooking, and baking showcased her nurturing spirit. A lover of stories, she spent countless hours lost in books, sharing tales of adventure and imagination.
Robina's life was a tapestry woven with the love of family and friends. She is now reunited with her beloved husband John, her son Roy Duplessis, and her daughter Joan Weir. She also rejoices in the company of her cherished grandchildren, Lori Parks and Timothy Duplessis, as well as her siblings who have gone before her.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Paul Desmond Duplessis of Calais; her grandchildren, Daryll Duplessis of Alberta, Canada, and Tamela Cegelske of Ketchikan, Alaska; and a joyful gathering of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Robina also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, along with dear friends Madge Gibson, Doug Brackett, and Maurice and Sandi Linton, who will remember her spirit fondly.
Robina lived a remarkable 105 years, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. Her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
