Robert L.
Norman
Jun 11, 1948 — Oct 7, 2026
Big Lake Twp
It is with sad but grateful hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Lawrence Norman, aka Bob or Bobby on October 7, 2026, being held closely by his family. Bob was born to Evelyn Roye Norman and Lorang Norman on June 11, 1948, in St. Stephen, NB.
He fondly remembers growing up in the US and Canada with family on both sides of the border. Having married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Rolfe Norman, they made their home in Woodland. Julie Anne Norman, his daughter and grandson Jordan Maxwell Norman, were his top priorities in life. Family was everything to him. He was an only child but often felt his cousins David and Karl Norman were his brothers. We will continue to tell Bob stories as he was a storyteller expert and enjoyed other people's stories as well.
He graduated from Woodland High School in 1966. In his early career choice, he considered pharmacy but later discovered business was where he was most comfortable. He graduated from Ricker College in Houlton in 1971 and was happy in insurance for forty plus years. Fenderson Insurance in Calais was his 1st insurance agency, and he retired with F. A. Peabody in 2017. Bob was happiest connecting with people. Many who started out as clients became dear friends. Being part of the Calais Rotary for many years and the Methodist Homes Board of Directors in his later years helped him to continue connecting with people.
Bobs' hobbies were many, but his obvious passionate pastimes were always fishing and hunting. This time of year, was his favorite time as he donned the traditional orange clothing. Canine companions, Barney, Holly and Biscuit were often by his side over the years
We extend immense gratitude to those who have stayed in close contact with Bob throughout his almost 10 yrs of illness. Food, visits, messages, phone calls all meant so much to him. A huge thank you goes out to CHCS team who cared for Bob over the last few months. He said, "I'm tired I need to rest"."Rest well, dear Bob, Dad, Gramp, friend. You've earned it".
Respecting Bobs' wishes, there will be no funeral. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared on Bob's memorial page at www.MaysFuneralHome.com
