Obituary

Pastor Robert E. Hinton, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.  Bob was born in St. Stephen, NB, on July 9, 1945, son of Weldon and Margaret (Colson) Hinton.

After graduating from Calais High School, Class of 1963, Bob entered the U.S. Army.  Following his service, he returned home and attended the New Brunswick Bible Institute, graduating with the Class of 1970.  Pastor Bob’s first church was in Amity where he served as Pastor for over 7 years.  He then was Pastor for Perry Bible Fellowship for 11 years, Milltown Baptist Church for 22 years, as well as the First Baptist Church in Calais for over 30 years.  Bob loved being in the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fly fishing for Atlantic Salmon.  Above everything, family was most important to Bob and he was especially proud of his daughter Kaitlyn.

In addition to his parents, Pastor Bob was predeceased by a brother, Darrell Hinton.  Surviving are his daughter Kaitlyn (Hinton) Lyford and husband Jordan of Stetson; and many nieces, nephews, and close family friends. 

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.  A Celebration of Pastor Bob’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, at Second Baptist Church, 21 Church St., Calais.  Burial will be private in the Calais Cemetery.
