Perry - Robert "Bobby" Davis, age 69, passed away at Northern Light Eastern Maine Hospital on January 9, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on March 10, 1956 to Roger and Jacqueline Davis in Eastport, Maine. He graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1974 and the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 1978 with a Bachelors in Physical Education.
Bobby taught physical education and health at Shead High School for over 30 years. He married the love of his life Peggy "Pottle" Davis in 1979 and they built their home in Perry on the shore. They shared many wonderful years of marriage until her passing on June 17, 2022. Their bond was one rooted in love, devotion, and shared faith, and Bobby carried her memory with him always.
Bobby is leaving behind a legacy defined by love, laughter, faith, and an unwavering dedication to sports, education, and community. Known for his infectious humor and joyful spirit, Bobby was truly the life of the party and brought positivity to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Bobby devoted his professional life to shaping young lives as a gym teacher, athletic director, basketball coach, and referee. A talented basketball and baseball player in his high school years, his passion for the games never faded. He was a proud lifelong alumnus of Shead High School and a devoted, die-hard fan of the Shead Tigers, following them faithfully and proudly. Beyond local loyalties, Bobby was an All–New England sports super fan, always eager to talk sports, relive great moments, and cheer on his favorite teams.
Outside of the gym and the court, Bobby cherished time spent golfing with his golf buddies and enjoying the close camaraderie of his referee friends at his quick wit, contagious laughter, and storytelling made every gathering brighter. He also enjoyed the crew he had breakfast with almost every morning at the WACO in Eastport. His most favorite memories were with his daughters and grandchildren who he had special bonds with. Family vacations and get togethers were cherished above all. He had a rare gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and happy.
Bobby's faith was an important foundation of his life. He believed deeply in God's grace and lived out his faith through kindness, service, and love for others. His life reflected the words of Scripture: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Bobby now rests in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Peggy. We take comfort in knowing they are now reunited in God's eternal embrace.
Bobby is survived by his loving family: his daughters Laura Craig and husband Joseph and Samantha Aldoyn and her husband Alfred, and his cherished grandchildren Jordyn Craig, Summer Craig, and Axl Aldoyn. Bobby also enjoyed taking walks along the Shore Road with his faithful companion, his dog Bo. Those walks were special moments of peace and reflection, where Bobby found comfort, companionship, and happiness in Bo's loyal presence.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former students, athletes, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched. Bobby's legacy will live on through the countless hearts he inspired, the lessons he taught, and the joy he so freely shared.
