Robert Bailey

October 12, 1961 — November 3, 2019

Calais – Robert R. Bailey, 58, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 3, 2019. Rob was born in Augusta to Frank H and Priscilla (Lahaye) Bailey, but lived most of his life in Calais, Maine

He graduated from the University of Maine as a civil engineer in 1984 and
worked at Thomas DiCenzo Inc for many years. He’s been working for Coast and Harbor for
the last several years and worked supervising projects, many which were upgrading border
crossings. Rob served on the Calais planning board for 17 years.

Rob also had a love of dogs, especially Golden Retrievers, and his recent pup Teke. His pups
have always been such an important part of his life and many local people mention Rob
walking his dog. He was an active participant on Golden Retriever Forum and loved sharing
tales and photos there.

He came naturally to the love of woodworking from his father and could be found in his shop at
a very young age. His projects spanned from refurbishing scissors with wooden handles to
pieces of furniture or a handmade croquet set. Who knew there was a need for 32 hand wood
planes. Rob was the go-to for family handy man problems. He also was fond of boating on the lakes and river in beautiful Washington County. You will find many photos of dogs and in the Pro Avenger on the St Croix River. His camping set up was not matched by many and his skills with dutch oven cooking was to write home about.

Rob is the last of the Bailey boys, being predeceased by Tom and recently Mike.
Rob is survived by his sister Pat and her husband Mike, 2 step children, Shannon Glick Price
and her husband D.J and Timothy Corey Glick; as well as 2 nieces, Lindsay Bailey and Kate
Bailey Deep and her husband Allen.

A remembrance will be held at a later date. Please continue to send memories along the way.
Memorial donations may be made to The Golden Retriever Foundation
