Robbie Leo Hayward

August 3, 1972 — June 24, 2021

Baileyville – Robbie Leo Hayward, 48, of Baileyville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 24th, 2021. He was born August 3rd, 1972, to Janice and Leo Hayward.

Robbie loved his family and had a very close, special bond with his parents and his daughter Hope. There was no place Robbie would rather be than at camp on Silver Pug where he loved to hunt, fish, and spend time making memories. During hunting season, he was often found at camp surrounded by his favorite people. There were very few things he loved more than spending the evening perch fishing on Silver Lake and Clifford with his daughter Hope, ending the night with a fire and Saturday night country gold playing from the truck radio.

He spent many summers at the Hayward’s blueberry farm running the harvester or raking blueberries for his grandfather and father throughout the years.

Robbie’s quick wit and infectious laugh are two things that will always be remembered by those who loved him most. His love for his daughter was unconditional which clearly showed when he took off his trusty ball cap and shammy shirt to put on a three-piece suit to walk her down the aisle and when he recently flew to NC to watch her graduate from college. Anyone who knew him knew that getting him out of Princeton or Baileyville was not an easy thing to do.

Robbie was predeceased by his paternal grandparents William “Bill” and Nellie Hayward, maternal grandparents Fred “Ted” and Beulah Corbett, and big brother Mike Hayward.

Robbie is survived by his daughter Hope Leighton and her husband Dylan of Jacksonville, North Carolina; loving, longtime friend Tina Strout of Baileyville; his devoted parents Leo and Janice Hayward of Baileyville; his big brother Joel Hayward of Baileyville; along with many nieces, nephews, close cousins, and special friends.

There will be a small, intimate gathering for family only at this time. A celebration of life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the DownEast Recovery Support Center. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
