Perry – Richard W. Townsend, 66, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Bangor Nursing & Rehab Center. Richard was born August 19, 1953, son of Dale and Alice (Brow) Townsend.
After graduating from Portland High School, Richard eventually moved back to Washington County. He worked for a short time with Calais Printing Press until his passion of “turning wrenches” let him to begin his career as an auto mechanic. Richard worked at Ramsdell’s and later for Morgan’s Truck and Auto.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his wife Lynn (Kinney) Townsend; and a brother Roger Townsend. Surviving are his son Charles “Chip” Townsend of Robbinston; a sister Vicki Newman of Michigan; brother Jeff Townsend and wife Judy of Robbinston; two nieces, Tiffany and Nicole; and two nephews, Dale and Freddie Jr.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2020 at Brewer Cemetery in Robbinston with Pastor Gary Kinney officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
