Phillip Nelson Gibson, 82, Passed away on Sunday, May 4th, 2025 after a short illness. Phil was born on April 19, 1943, in Biddeford, Maine, to William G. and Viola (Russell) Gibson.
After his graduation from Washington Academy in 1961, he worked at Pratt Whitney in Connecticut before relocating to Calais, Maine. In 1968, Phillip joined Georgia-Pacific in Baileyville, where he was proud to be a long serving Local 27 Officer, where he earned the respect and admiration of his fellow members. His commitment to his work was only rivaled by his love for Ford vehicles. As a gifted mechanic, Phillip found joy in working on his vehicles and exploring offbeat paths in search of old cars that could provide him with spare parts that would feed his love for tinkering.
Phil was predeceased by his parents, William and Viola, and his brother, James. He leaves behind his brother William, his children Lynne Gibson of Machiasport, Laurie Gibson and companion Erik Bushey of Gray, Brent and wife Julie Lord-Gibson of Baring, his cherished companion Barbara McLean, and his grandchildren Christopher Gibson and fiancée Jessica Perkins of South Portland; and Brayden, Nathan, and Ashley Lord of Baring as well as his great-grandchildren Sean and Mavis Gibson.
