Obituary

Philip Diffin, born on a crisp spring day in Calais, Maine on April 11, 1941, was a man who knew the art of hard work and cherished the simple joys of life. A true Mainer at heart, Philip's journey led him from the woods of Robbinston and Calais, where he worked as a woodsman alongside his father from the tender age of 16, to Florida to finish raising his children, and then on to the open roads of South Carolina, where he ran his own trucking business, Diffin Trucking. Philip had a knack for creating things of beauty and function, and whether it was tinkering with small engines or cultivating a lush garden, he found immense satisfaction in the process. Philip's business ventures were not just about commerce, but also about family and companionship. One of his most cherished ventures was a wreath business where he worked alongside his son, Albert, which brought him many years of joy. But retirement didn't slow Philip down; it only gave him more time to indulge in his interests. He was a man of many talents, and his ability to fix just about anything that had a motor was legendary in the community of Perry, ME, where he resided. Philip is predeceased by his son, Albert, and his parents Ronald and Irene Diffin. He is survived by Linda Diffin of Edgewater FL, his children Teresa Gregory of TN, Katrina (Ken) Holmes of Calgary AB, Canada, Lisa (Ron) Avery of New Smyrna Beach, FL., Lanette (Mike) Pottle of Robbinston, ME., Christine Murray of Pembroke, ME., Della Bradford of Edgewater, FL., Abraham (Nikki) Diffin of New Smyrna Beach, FL., Contessa (Kevin) Posey, of Barbareton, OH.; Sisters Katherine (Herbert) Bishop of Perry, ME., Linda (Charles) McLellan of Princeton, ME.; and daughter-in-law Amber Diffin of Lafayette, IN. Philip's legacy lives on through his 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, along with several nieces. Arrangements are by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Friends, family, and those who were touched by Philip's life are invited to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page at www.MaysFuneralHome.com. After all, Philip's life was not just about the work he did, but about the people he loved and who loved him in return.
