Pauline A. Shain, 67, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Calais Community Hospital. Born in Massachusetts on January 18, 1958, to George and Alberta (Pike) Blance, Pauline's zest for life was contagious, her love for music and dance unparalleled. She attended Burlington High School and later relocated to Calais, Maine, where she nurtured and raised her two beloved daughters.
Pauline's most remarkable qualities were her vivacity and verve. She lived her life with an infectious energy, often seen in her love for break dancing, a talent she mastered with grace and flair. Her rhythm extended to her taste in music, where she found joy in attending concerts and immersing herself in melodies that touched her soul. A cinephile at heart, Pauline enjoyed watching movies, often bringing the magic of the silver screen to life in her own unique way. Family and friends remember her for her fiery personality and genuine kindness. She loved her family with her whole heart. Her smiles and laughter were contagious to everyone. She had an off the wall and unexpected sense of humor. Nothing ever swayed her confidence and strength.
Pauline leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Dawn Shain and her companion Shane Creps of Westbrook, ME; two adored grandchildren, Briana Robinson and Talynn Newell; her loving brother, George Blance of MA, and a network of family members whose lives were enriched by her presence. She is predeceased by her parents, George and Alberta, and her daughter, Erica Shain.
