Patricia Jane Garcia Lutz, 84, passed away peacefully at home in Robbinston on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Patricia was born in Bangor, Maine on June 9, 1940 to Clayton and Mabel Kathryn (Tarbox) Lothrop. Patricia's early years were filled with the quiet beauty of Maine, an influence that would later permeate her artwork and inspire her deep love for literature.
After graduating from Bangor High School, Patricia ventured far beyond the borders of her hometown, taking her talents to Houston, Texas. In the heart of the lone star state, Patricia built a thriving career as a bookkeeper in the telecommunications sector. Her meticulous attention to detail, combined with her innate ability to navigate the complexities of the financial world, made her an invaluable asset to her company. Despite the distance from her birthplace, Patricia carried her Maine roots with her, often transposing the serene landscapes of her childhood onto canvas in her spare time.
In her retirement, Patricia returned to her beloved Maine, first settling in Ellsworth before moving to Calais, and finally making her home in Robbinston. Throughout her life, Patricia remained a passionate reader, her love for literature only growing stronger over the years. Her home, invariably filled with the intoxicating aroma of fresh paint and the comforting rustle of turning pages, was a testament to her creative spirit and intellectual curiosity. Patricia also help rehabilitate raccoons, a testament to her generous heart and love for animals.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by a son Mark C. Barrett, and a brother Roger Lothrop. Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca Barrett Wilber of Carmel; three grandsons, Christopher Oakes of Winthrop, Nicholas Barrett of Bangor, and Beau Wilber and wife Abby of Sullivan; four great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Grace, Stella, and Eliana; and her dear friends who surrounded her with love during her final years.
A Celebration of Patricia's Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements for Patricia are being handled by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
