It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia L. Kelly, warmly known as Pat, Trish, or Patty K to her friends and loved ones. A beacon of love, strength, and true grit and determination, Pat departed this life on November 19, 2025, after a fierce battle with cancer, leaving a tremendous void that can never be filled.
Born in the tranquil town of McAdam, New Brunswick, on June 25, 1957, Pat was the cherished first born of Elwood and Janet Sloan. With a bright smile and her quick wit, she embraced the world and sought out its various opportunities. Pat's journey led her from the classrooms of Blacks Harbour High School to the halls of Saint Andrews Community College. Her life was rich in experiences in different fields until she eventually found her right fit being an Office Manager for Hardwick's Country Store in Calais, where she served for over 30 years, in which time the people she served became family to her. She was a formidable presence, a woman of substance whose commitment to work was surpassed only by her devotion to her family. She found solace in creating her beautiful afghans and playing her Bingo Blitz, both a testament of her patience and skill.
Pat's heart was a treasure trove of love. She adored her two children, Jennifer Kelly Newell and husband Tony, and LCDR Ryan Kelly U.S.N. and wife Christinne. Her three grandchildren, Kiarra "Kiki" Newell-Hayward and wife Taylor, Chayeden "Chayeman" Newell, and Finley "Finn" Kelly, were the most precious gifts to Pat. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Pat is survived by her loving siblings, Judy Astorino and husband Michael, Jim Sloan and wife Pierette, Stephen Sloan and wife Rose, and David Sloan and wife Inez, her amazing in-laws and best friends, Patricia Pike and husband Wayne, Angela Foggia and husband Michail. Her special mother figure regarded as "mom", Betty Wright and husband Frankie; as well as several extremely special nieces and nephews, as well as numerous very cherished friends; Bill Kilby and Heather Cameron were especially close to her heart. As well as her very best friends, her cat Nat. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Elwood and Janet, her beloved husband Phillip, and her baby sister Janet Folland.
We invite you to celebrate Pat's life and the indelible mark she has left on all our lives. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with arrangements entrusted to Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. As we reflect on Pat's life, we invite you to share your memories and upload photos to the memorial page at www.MaysFuneralHome.com. Each story, each picture, will help us remember the remarkable woman who touched our lives in countless ways.
