Obituary

Pamela Rose Mercier, 74, passed away with her family by her side on March 10, 2026. Pam was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, on May 11, 1951, to Carleton and Shirley (Dow) Yates. She grew up in Grand Lake Stream and attended grade school there before graduating from Woodland High School, Class of 1970. She met her soulmate and the love of her life, Peter, in the mid 1970's. On May 28, 1977, she and Pete were married in Grand Lake Stream. Pam enjoyed time with her family and being on the water fishing with Pete. Her family, especially her grandkids, were her whole world. Surviving are her daughter, Holly Mercier-Ward and husband Lee of Baileyville; son Donald Mercier and wife Kacy of Passadumkeag; four grandchildren, Andrew, Anna, Aiden, and Emily; and her brother David Brown of Pembroke. She leaves behind many family and friends who she loved very much. She also leaves behind her right-hand man, her feline companion Ozzy. Pam touched so many lives, and her impact will live on in all of those she touched. In addition to her parents, Pam was predeceased by her eternal love, Peter D. Mercier; and her twin brother Peter Yates. There will be a celebration of life visitation for Pam on March 22, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. at Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 26 Church St., Calais. A reception will follow at the Spednic Club in Baileyville from 4-6 p.m. A private burial will take place at a later date for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pam's memory may be made to the Peter D. Mercier Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Machias Savings Bank, c/o Stacey Connolly, 210 North St., Calais, ME 04619.
