Nova Socobasin

January 16, 2019 — January 6, 2023

Indian Township

Our precious Nova Love, the daughter of Jack and Tene’ Downing, Cassandra Socobasin and Anthony Clement, went to be our forever angel surrounded by her loved ones at Northern Lights Eastern Maine Medical on Friday, January 6, 2023.  Nova was born in Machias on January 16, 2019.

Nova brought so much joy into everyone’s lives whether it was with her smile, her bright blue eyes, her contagious laugh or just by a touch.  She loved with her all and taught true unconditional love in her own special way.  Her love for her family was completely heartwarming and special to her. Nova had special connections with everyone close to her, if it was her hands on your face, playing with dangling earrings, copying you, hollering back at you to copy your noise, playing with your hair, getting special snugs, special napping buddy, big mouth open ABAH from bubba or even just a simple look.  We’ve always said that if you’re having a bad day just go see Nova, your bad day will be changed in a second.

When it came to her medical issues it never held her back for a second. She still pushed through and lived her best life every single day. If everyone could live their life through Nova’s eyes the world would be a much better place.  Nova has taught so much about life during her short time here. She’s taught that no matter what life has given you, you fight through it and still have a smile, pure true unconditional love. Nova is the true definition of a warrior.

Nova was predeceased by her godfather, Richard “pun” Stevens. Surviving are her parents, Jack and Tene’ Downing, Cassandra Socobasin and Anthony Clement. A very special godmother Laura Socobasin; sister Nakeisha Nicholas; brothers Jack and Isaac Downing; sisters Dinesha, Ashley, Starr, Abeni and Trinity; brothers Anthony and Eric. Grandparents Wade and Linda Lola, Roger Seelye and Caron Hood, Eddie and Brenda Lozada, Jack and Aina Downing, Robert Socobasin, Lisa Giuliano; great-grandmothers Mary Theresa Downing and Leola Seelye; aunts and uncles, Faithann and Roger Brown, Roger Seelye II, Adrienne Lola and Lou Dana, Russell Lola and Meagan James, Wade Lola II, Phyllis Lola, Kaleb Bacon, Devin and Leona Downing, Kuhas Polches and Elleka Apt, Simiah and Celia, Shawna McCormack, Taylor and Austin Downing, Rachel Polchies, Keith Downing and Amanda Crosby; and nieces, nephews and many cousins.
