Nathan I. LaPlant, a dedicated logger and passionate outdoorsman, passed away at the age of 41 on November 2, 2025. Born on February 2, 1984, in St. Stephen, NB, Canada, Nathan was a man of the woods, finding tranquility amongst its towering timbers and serene streams. His love for nature was not just a hobby, but a way of life that he enthusiastically shared with those around him.
Nathan was a graduate of Woodland High School and Eastern Maine Community College, and his academic pursuits were only overshadowed by his unwavering dedication to his family's logging business. It was there, amidst the hum of machinery and the scent of fresh-cut wood, that Nathan found his purpose. His nephews, Tyler and Ian, were the fortunate recipients of his wisdom, learning from him the art of appreciating the wonders of nature as they hunted and fished together.
Those who knew Nathan understood that his heart was as expansive as the wilderness he loved. He is survived by his loving parents, Ronald and Katherine LaPlant, his brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Megan LaPlant, and his cherished nephews, Tyler and Ian LaPlant. His aunts and uncles, Heidi and Richard Fitch, Sandra and Stephen Campbell, Barbra and Scott Young, Nellie-Jo Lee, and Stephen and Cori LaPlant, as well as many cousins and their children, mourn his loss. A special mention goes to his second family, Robin and Scott Beal. Nathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Murray and Lillian LaPlant, Rodney and Mary Fitch, and uncle Rodney Fitch.
A Celebration of Nathan's life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Princeton Rod & Gun Club. Nathan's legacy will live on in the gentle rustle of leaves, the ripple of a stream, and most importantly, in the hearts of those who loved him.
