Eastport – Nanette Lowe, 84, passed away at her home on March 21, 2019. Nanette was born in Eastport to Thomas and Irene (Pettigrove) Gallant on August 5, 1934. Eastport was her childhood home where she attended school and graduated with the class of 1953 from Shead Memorial High.
Soon after graduation she moved to Portland and took a job at Maine Medical Center as a medical supply technician, she held that position for 20 years before returning home to help care for her aging father. In addition to caring for her family, Nanette also became the librarian at the Marine Technical Center Boat School in Eastport where she spent the next 20 years before retiring in 1999.
On April 20, 2002 Nanette married Paul L. Lowe. Together they spent the rest of their days enjoying each other, traveling, seeing plays, she appreciated working on arts and crafts at home and was a devote communicant of St. Joseph’s RC Church in Eastport.
In addition to her parents, Nanette was predeceased by two sisters, Lillian J. Gallant and Sheila Gallant.
She will be remembered by her beloved husband, Paul L. Lowe; a brother, Ronald Gallant and his wife Susan of KS; brother-in-law James Lowe and his wife Carolyn of Eastport; two nieces, Irene Seeley of NC and Sherri Winchell of KS; three stepchildren, Patrick Lowe and his daughter Kris of NJ, Michael Lowe and his wife Kimberly and their daughters, Stephanie and Marissa, of NY and Jeannette Lowe Demnicki and her husband Paul and their children, Steven and Paul Jr. of NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23rd at St. Joseph’s Church, Washington St., Eastport by Father Kevin Martin. Committal will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 11th at Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
