"The Man, The Myth, The Legend"
Miles C. Cropley Jr., 59, departed this life on January 16, 2025. He was born in Calais on February 7, 1965. A man of the wild, Miles was the embodiment of the rugged outdoors, a kindred spirit to the forests he spent his life amongst. His love for the outdoors was as vivid as the red beard he sported, a beacon and a symbol of his vibrant spirit. From the serene lakes to the flowing St. Croix River, his playground was the natural world, where he found joy in fishing, canoeing, and hunting for moose horns.
Miles made a living in the logging industry, starting with Steve Maddin Logging, then Lyle Hamilton Logging, and most recently A & A Brochu Trucking. His work was not merely an occupation, but a passion, as he found fulfillment working amidst the majestic trees he so loved. Miles was known and loved by many for his kindness and easy-going nature. His favorite saying, "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day," encapsulated his humorous and free-spirited approach to life.
Miles was predeceased by his parents, Miles Sr. and Patricia Cropley of Vanceboro. His legacy lives on in his surviving loved ones, including his two sons, Patrick (Shantelle) and Nick, his siblings Chris McLaughlin (Mary), Carolyn Osborne (Roger), Beth Ruby (David), and Billy Cropley (Corinna), and his many friends who will forever remember and cherish his extraordinary spirit. Miles was a one-of-a-kind human being, his memory etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Vanceboro Community Center, High Street, Vanceboro. Arrangements are being made by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
