Obituary

Mildred Patricia Lowe, known affectionately by her loved ones as Pat, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at St. Mary's d'Youville Pavilion in Lewiston on July 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, care, and cherished memories. Born on February 24, 1931, in Saint John, New Brunswick to John and Mildred (Gillen) Sullivan, Pat's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and compassionate heart. Her light continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Pat's journey took her from the classrooms of St. Vincent's High School, Class of 1949, to the hallways of Charlotte County Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1952. Her passion for caring for others led her to specialize in Obstetrics at Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. She dedicated her life to serving others, working tirelessly at both Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen, NB, and Calais Community Hospital in Calais, ME, until her retirement in 1994. Beyond her professional life, Pat was a woman of many interests. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life - cooking, baking, gardening, dancing, knitting, and spending summers at her beloved camp on the Grand Falls Flowage. In the midst of her fulfilling career, Pat found the love of her life, Richard Lowe, on a blind date. They were united in marriage on May 7, 1955, and their love story became an inspiration to all who knew them. Pat's devotion to her faith was evident in her active participation as a communicant of St. James the Greater Church in Baileyville. Family was the cornerstone of Pat's life, and she poured her heart and soul into making her home a sanctuary of love and warmth. Pat was predeceased by her parents, John and Mildred Sullivan, her cherished husband Richard, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Godek, Anita and Merle "Buddy" Lydic, and Betty and Russell Coltart. She is survived by her two children, Timothy Lowe, and his wife Kelly, of Princeton, ME, and Lee Ann Goslin, and her husband Mike, of Gray, ME. Pat's love also extended to her two grandchildren, Chad Dwelley and wife Katie of Mt. Vernon, ME, and Raynel Wood and husband Jared of Hermon, ME; as well as her four great-grandchildren, Reagan, Gavin, Kade, and Dallas. She also leaves behind two sisters, Ann Sullivan of West Roxbury, MA, and Clare Godek of West Rutland, VT. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Beacon Hospice and the staff at St. Mary's d'Youville Pavilion Third Floor East for their loving care and going the extra mile in their service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at St. James the Greater Church, 60 Summit St., Baileyville, ME. A private burial will take place at the Woodland Cemetery in Baileyville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory may be made to St. Mary's d'Youville Pavilion Dementia Unit, Attn: Foundation Office, PO Box 7291, Lewiston, ME 04243.
