Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Norman Hamilton, 71, who left us on July 13, 2026, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Born on April 22, 1955, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Michael was the cherished son of Frederick and Rachel (Brown) Hamilton.

A proud graduate of Woodland High School's Class of 1973, Michael pursued his passion for craftsmanship at a trade school in Augusta, where he earned a welding certificate. Returning to his roots, he became a dedicated truck driver, spending over 50 years hauling logs-an endeavor he truly loved. Alongside his trucking career, he also lent his skills to local mills during seasonal shutdowns.

Michael was deeply involved in his community, having served as a Past Master of Lewey's Island Lodge in Princeton, and a member of St. Croix Lodge #No. 46 A.F. & A.M., St. Croix Chapter No. 17 RAM, St. Croix Council No. 11 R&SM, Hugh DePaynes Commandry No. 15, and Anah Shrine in Bangor. His commitment to service extended to his role as a firefighter with the Princeton Fire Department, where he served for more than 25 years. In his leisure time, Michael found joy in collecting model trucks and trains, often sharing these interests with family and friends.

Michael's legacy will forever be cherished by his mother Rachel Hamilton of Baileyville; his beloved wife of over 42 years, Rosemarie (Crosby) Hamilton of Calais; Rosemarie's daughter whom Michael considered his own, Tami Willett and her husband Philip of Alexander; three adoring grandchildren, Sarah Norton and her husband Jody, Emily Clark and her companion Logan, and Christopher Northcutt; and treasured great-grandchildren, Lilyanne, Austin, Shyanne, and Thomas. He is also survived by his sister Joanna Hamilton; brothers Philip Hamilton and his wife Susan, and Brian Hamilton and his wife Ruth; his brother-in-law Wayne Crosby; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

In honor of Michael's wishes, there will be no services held. However, we invite family and friends to gather in remembrance of his life and share cherished memories. Arrangements are being handled with care by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. To honor Michael's legacy further, we encourage you to upload photos and share your memories on his memorial page at www.MaysFuneralHome.com.
