Obituary

Michael James Mullen 79, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. Michael was born in Eastport on May 18,1943, son of Ada and George Mullen. 

He attended Eastport Schools until taking a job for the City of Eastport Public Works Department. He also worked for the Mearl Corporation, then as an Eastport Police Officer, eventually becoming chief. He later retired as a forklift driver for Federal Marine Terminals. 

Michael said his favorite job was a police officer, since he loved helping others. He also enjoyed being a member of the Eastport Fire Department. Michael’s very favorite pastime was starting his day by going to the Waco Diner for breakfast and then visiting the gang at Baycity Mobil.

Michael was predeceased by his mother Ada; father George; and brothers Francis and Jack. Surviving are his children; Kelley Gallant, Kasey Hall, Kevin McCarrom and families’; brother Pat and wife Ginny; sister Patty Graffam and husband Dana; several nieces and nephews; and caregiver/best friend Sheila. 

Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29,2023 at the Bayside Cemetery in Eastport. In lieu of flowers those wishing to may make a donation to the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
