Pleasant Point & Portland – Melanie Ann Dana, 45, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 14, 2022. Melanie was born in Calais on December 10, 1976, daughter of John “Pinto” Homan Jr. and Lorene (Dana) Homan.

After attending Lee Academy, Melanie raised her children and then worked as a seasonal worker. She eventually moved to southern Maine working for Dingley Press in Lewiston, and most recently in food service in Portland. Melanie volunteered helping the homeless throughout Portland. She was family oriented and loved spending time with her children.

Surviving are her parents, John “Pinto” and Lorene Homan of Pleasant Point; five children, Joseph Mitchell of Calais, Laura Mitchell and companion Joseph Dearborn of Princeton, Morgan Dana of Pleasant Point, and Chelsea and Brayden Fullerton, both of Robbinston; two grandchildren, Brewer Smith and Joseph Dearborn II; three siblings, Aboluwes Dana, Juliann Homan and Eunice Homan, all of Pleasant Point; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will begin 6 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2022 at her parents home, 13 Middle Road, Pleasant Point, until 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Brad Morin 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19 at St. Joseph Church, 51 Washington St., Eastport. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Point Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
