Mary Elizabeth Fitch (Collins)

Princeton – Mary Elizabeth Fitch, 83, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 17, 2019. Mary was born in Minto, NB on December 12, 1935.

Mary attended school in St. Stephen, NB and on September 28, 1953, she married her love, Rodney Fitch. They were fortunate to spend the next 66 years together until his passing on February 16, 2018. Mary was a member of Princeton Congregational Church where she was active with the Sunshine Club. She was a wonderful cook and loved traveling, reading, and wintering in Brooksville, FL and Hawaii with her beloved Rodney.

Mary was a talented seamstress making everything from Barbie clothes, prom gowns, wedding dresses to slip covers. she made matching outfits for her children for many years.
She showed her love by giving to others. Mary made cakes and pies for new neighbors, sick acquaintances and friends.

Her family benefited the most from her cooking skills. Mary could make anything...but her cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies were family favorites. The family home smelled of baked goods and Lestoil.

Mary loved her family fiercely. She loved the grandchildren and great grandchildren with all she had. She worried about all of us. She wanted everyone to be safe and happy. She was a force to be reckoned with and loved by all her family. She is gone but not forgotten. We all carry some of her with us. She was loved.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Rodney; and several siblings.
Surviving are her five children, Ricky Fitch and wife Heidi of Calais, Kathy LaPlant and husband Ronald of Princeton, Sandra Campbell and husband Stephen of Baileyville, Barbara Young and husband Scott of Bangor, and Rodney Fitch of Princeton; her grandchildren, Ricky Fitch of Calais, Ryan and Sara Fitch of Bradley, Robbie Fitch and companion Toni Cole of Eddington, Nathan LaPlant of Princeton, Matthew LaPlant and wife Megan of Baileyville, Julie Richard and husband Marty of Alexander, Stephen Campbell and companion Mandy Belanger of Baileyville, Bryan Young and his fiancée Myra of Bangor, Chris Young and wife Natalie of Bangor, and Paige and William Fitch of Princeton; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
