Calais – Mary Elizabeth (Curran) Bridges, 94, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Calais Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Mary was born in Calais on October 17, 1924, daughter of James and Theresa (Curran) Canavan.

Mary was a devoted Catholic all her life and a Communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Calais. She loved her husband, children and her whole family. Mary was loved and God was her strength.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Orris Nelson Bridges; daughter Marian Adrian Smith; granddaughter Kelly Smith; two grandsons, Timothy Nelson Bridges and John Michael Bridges; sister Rowiena Chambers Wilcox; and two sons-in-law Kenny Smith and Leonard Scott. Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Scott of Calais; two sons, James Curran and wife Debbie, and Orris Bridges and wife Doreen, all of St. Stephen; her sister Phyllis Buzzell of Portland; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visiting hours will be held 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2019 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Kevin J. Martin 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Immaculate Conception R. C. Church, Calais Ave., Calais. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery.
