Marshall Strout Jr.

Brewer – Marshall M. Strout Jr., 86, passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 at Maine Veteran’s Home of Bangor surrounded by family. Marshall was born in Bar Harbor on January 11, 1933, a son of the late Kathleen Farnsworth and Marshall Strout Sr.

After graduating from Bar Harbor High School, Marshall served with the 45th Infantry Division during the Korean War, and later was employed by the Department of Transportation for 32 years. On August 24, 1958, he married his love, Frances Whalen. He was a life member and Past Commander of the Daniel E. Geagan Post #98 American Legion in Brewer, a life member and Past Commander of Isaac E. Clewley Post #4917 V.F.W. in Brewer, a life member of Burton-Goode-Sargent Chapter 1 of the Maine Korean War Veterans in Bangor, a life member of The Military Order of the Purple Heart Joshua Chamberlain Chapter 1865 in Brewer, a life member of Bangor Elk’s #244, and a member of the Brewer Fraternal Order of Eagles.

In addition to his parents, Marshall was predeceased by his brother Maurice. Surviving are his beloved wife Frances Strout; two nieces, Debra and Margaret, who are grateful to be with Marshall at his passing; and two nephews, Patrick and David.

A private family service will be held at the Bayside Cemetery in Eastport. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marshall’s memory may be made to the Peavey Memorial Library, 26 Water St., Eastport, ME 04631.
