Marilyn L. Trafton
With full hearts, we would like to share that Mom's decades long journey with dementia ended on November 1, 2026 and she has blessedly been reunited with the love of her life, Mike, who she missed dearly after his passing.
Marilyn was born on September 1, 1937, to Julian and Cora Fern (Goss) Call. Ironically, she shared the very same birthday as her future husband but was six years younger. She attended St. Croix High School and graduated in June 1954 as co-salutatorian.
Marilyn shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Raymond "Mike," whom she married on September 16, 1955. Together for 66 years, they crafted a full life raising two cherished daughters, Deborah and Teri, and one oversized beagle named Peppy. The call of loons led them to their haven at "The Bear's Den" on West Grand Lake, where countless memories were made. Over the years, they shared travels and numerous camping adventures.
A devoted mother and homemaker, Marilyn also dedicated twenty-five years to the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk in Baileyville. As a lifelong member of the People's United Methodist Church, she worked alongside Mike on numerous church suppers, serving her community and was also a member of the United Methodist Women's group. Her membership in the Orion Chapter-Order of Eastern Star further exemplified her dedication to service and fellowship.
Marilyn's life was rich with simple pleasures that brought her joy. She found happiness in reading, tackling puzzles, and playing cards with her neighborhood friends, the "girls" of Woodland Heights.
Beside her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved Mike, her sister Janice, and two special nieces, Dawn and Carol.
She will be greatly missed by daughters Debby and Teri and special son-in-law David.
She was the proud grandmother of Adam and wife Dannielle, Matthew and wife Lauren, Megan, and Tyler, and a beloved great-grandmother to Brayden, Owen, Tanner and Lucy.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Wellmore Point for their years of compassionate care and on becoming her second family.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2026, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery in Baileyville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to All Saints United Methodist Church, 849 Main St., Calais, ME 04619.
