Marilyn Vickery Gomez, 94, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Calais Community Hospital. Marilyn was born in Calais on June 11, 1929, daughter of Horace and Virginia (Vickery) Russell.
Marilyn grew up in Calais then moved to Berlin, New Hampshire, to work at Wareknitters. In 1958 she moved back to Calais where she continued her career at Wareknitters as an inspector. Marilyn loved horses, gardening, making latch hook rugs, and painting with oils and acrylics. Above all, Marilyn’s faith was most important to her. She was a devoted Jehovah Witness and enjoyed sharing her belief with others.
In addition to her parents, Horace and Virginia Russell, she was predeceased by her husband Thomas R. Gomez; sisters, Joyce Poole and Jean Thornton; and a grandson Thomas G. Phillips. Surviving are her three daughters, Virginia Phillips of Oak Bay, NB, Lynne Turmenne of Calais, and Susan Stover and husband Ron of Calais; a sister Madeline Seeley of Calais; grandchildren, Anthony Phillips and companion Yvonne of St. Stephen, NB, Tracy Phillips of Oak Bay, NB, Tristin Phillips and companion Louis of Pleasant Point, Amber French and husband Nick of Clayton, SC, Wynter McPhail and husband William of Calais, Renee Morin and fiancé Christian of Calais, Audrey Teacutter and companion Royce of Greene, Rusty Teacutter and companion Kate of Greene, Larry Noyes and wife Victoria of Skowhegan, and Andrew Crosby and wife Amanda of Aubrey, TX; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
