Meddybemps

Marian Amy McGouldrick, 65, beloved sister, daughter, partner and friend, passed away peacefully at her sister’s home in Calais on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Marian was born in Calais on January 20, 1958, daughter to Lila and Hollis Brooks of Robbinston.

She lived in Meddybemps with her partner Jimmy Smith. Marian had many careers including co-owner of the Portside Inn, cook in Barnards nursing home, and many other places and positions through town. She made treasured friends at them all.

She loved music, camping, fishing, riding motorcycles, and four wheeling. Everything outdoors. She spent her last days with family, singing and telling jokes. She kept her sense of humor till the end. She was moved to tears of joy when told about all of the people who worked on and donated to the fundraisers for her. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Marian was predeceased by her mother Lila Tracy, Step father John (Bud) Tracy, father Hollis Brooks, siblings Alfred Brooks and Muriel (Sister) Brooks, Uncle Victor Mahar, and first husband Ivan Campbell. She is survived by her brothers Daniel and Stuart Murphy, Edward Young, Merrill and John Brooks, and Gerald Watts; her sisters Joan Bev and Barbara Brooks; and her partner Jimmy Smith. Other family included Stanley and Vera Young, Joan Mahar, second husband and friend Steve McGouldrick, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Marian’s Life will held at a later date.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
