Margaret M. Emery

Eastport – Margaret Mary (Hicks) Emery, 71, passed away on January 20, 2020. She was born April 7, 1948 at Eastport Memorial Hospital, the youngest child of Captain George Herbert Hicks and Helen (Craig) Hicks.
Margaret attended Eastport schools and graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1966.

She went on to work 25 years at Eastport Memorial Hospital Nursing Home. After that she spent a few years at Eastport Health Care, working with the Patient Assist Program.

Highlights of her life included family gatherings, being out on Boyden’s Lake with her husband Reid, 4th of July celebrations, and a trip to Virginia with sister Karen, where she got to visit Walton’s Mountain.

Margaret “Nana” cherished her grandchildren and was always a big part of their lives. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and feisty personality.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, Reid W. Emery, her parents, brother Herbert Roland Hicks, Brother-in-law Larry Conley and mother and father-in-law Roberta and Maxwell Emery.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Moka Sullivan of Robbinston, son Mark Emery and his companion Caela Fenderson of Charlotte, grandsons Garret Sullivan, of Andover, MA and Ian Sullivan, of Orono, granddaughter Rachel Emery, great grandson Jackson Emery, and former daughter-in-law Shannon Emery, all of Bangor.

Also survived by much loved sister Karen Conley, of Newport News, VA, sister-in-law Susan Hicks of South Portland, dear friend and sister-in-law, Peggy and husband Ronnie Segien of Eastport and FL and sister-in-law Sally and husband Ed Emery of Eastport. She also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

A graveside service will take place in early summer on a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Lifeflight Foundation, PO Box 899, Camden, ME 04843.
