Obituary

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Pottle passed away unexpectedly on August 1st, 2026 at Calais Community Hospital. She was born on September 17th, 1956 to the late Edna LaCoute, and Garfield Homan, in Eastport.

Peggy grew up and attended Eastport schools, participated in school activities, and made lifelong friends here both in Eastport and Pleasant Point. In her younger years she loved spending time on the back of a Harley, and remembered fondly doing charity toy runs at Christmastime.

She was a wonderful singer, with a beautiful voice. Importantly to her, she was an elder of the Passamaquoddy Tribe and was incredibly proud of her heritage. She enjoyed speaking the language, going to events, dancing, and sharing those special moments with her children and grandchildren. Above all, that was her greatest achievement, being a mother and grandmother. She would play dolls, snuggle, video chat, play Mahjong, and loved to take them shopping and buy them things.

She had a great sense of humor, and so many of her stories that she told would make you laugh so hard, and we will remember them forever.

Peggy loved to live life fast, she didn’t let moss grow under her shoes, and she had this amazing ability to be somewhere new and immediately find people to connect with, and become lifelong friends with.

She had many pets over the years, but most recently she lost her “life partner in crime” and sweet companion Precious. Just like Greg, both Precious and Peggy’s urns will be with Peggy’s son & his family at their home in Eastport, where we know she would want to be.

Waiting for her in heaven besides her loving mother and father, are two brothers, her late husband William “Bill” Bailey, , as well as her beloved son Greg. She was devastated when Greg passed, just like the rest of her family, so we find peace in our hearts knowing they are together again.

Peggy leaves behind, many brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that she loved very much, but above all she believed her greatest achievement and love is for her children and grandchildren. Francis Burgess, her son, Shelly Burgess, her daughter in law, Grayson, Raeya, Madisyn, Ryidan, her grandchildren. Her daughter Rita Breton, Jeramie Breton, her son in law, and their children Owen & Ronnie. Her late son Greg’s children, Gia & Keegan.

Services will be held at the Community center at Pleasant Point on Wednesday August 12th at 1:00pm, Thursday will be the last supper, and ends Friday August 14th at 11:00am. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.MaysFuneralHome.com
