With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Luann M. Durgin, a witty, resilient, loving, spitfire and compassionate soul, on February 3, 2026. Born on April 10, 1941, in Harrington, ME, Luann lived a full life that was marked by her unique qualities and accomplishments. She was a beacon of light who showered her warmth and love on everyone she met. Her infectious humor brought joy to many, and she possessed an unwavering resilience that saw her through life's many ups and downs. Luann was a devoted educator who taught at Woodland High School until her retirement, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. Her distinctive teaching style was recognized when she was honored in Who's Who Among America's Teachers. She was also a trailblazer, being the first ever to complete the IBM electric typewriting courses in 1964. Beyond her career, Luann was deeply dedicated to her family, and her oldest son Wakey was her sidekick for the last 29 years. Luann's hobbies included teaching, finding a reason to laugh, and loving her family fiercely. Her zest for life and unwavering faith were evident in her favorite Bible verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13) Luann is survived by her loving children: William Wilkes, Walter Durgin, Ashley Lloyd and Andrew Page. She was a cherished grandmother to Jason, Rodger, and Samuel Durgin, and Jason Page. She was also a great grandmother to Rhys Durgin.
