Obituary

Lloyd Thomas Dwelley, Sr., age 83, of Alexander, ME, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. Tom was born in 1942, in Calais, ME.

After graduating from Calais High School in 1960, Tom pursued higher education at Ricker College in Houlton. His strong sense of duty led him to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, serving in communications electronics, a formative experience that shaped his future endeavors. Upon returning home, Tom embarked on a successful career as an electrician in the pulp and paper industry, working for Georgia-Pacific before retiring from Domtar in 2006. His contributions to his field and his strong ties to the union reflect a lifetime of hard work and respect for his craft.

Outside of his career, Tom was a passionate member of the St. Croix Valley Amateur Radio Club and cherished moments spent fishing, hunting, gardening, and following NASA space expeditions including watching the space station pass by in the night sky. Tom also enjoyed getting his private airplane license and owning a Cessna airplane. He was an ardent sports fan, always cheering for his favorite teams and sharing the joy of the game with his loved ones.

Tom is predeceased by his father, Paul Dwelley; his mother and step-father, Rowena (White) and Everett Bates; and his beloved brothers-in-law, Carl Perkins and Cleven Dennis.

Tom is survived by his much loved wife and companion of 32 years, Marilyn (McLellan) Dwelley. Tom has five grandchildren, Jordan Korb and her husband Bryce, Andrew Dwelley and his wife Emily, Tori Harnois, Jeremy Dwelley and his wife Emma, and Lacie Dwelley and her husband Little Eagle Piper.
