Linda J. Lewey

Linda J. Townsend Lewey, 80, passed peacefully at home on June 21, 2023.  Linda was born to George and Jane Morrison in Malden, MA, on August 15, 1942.

She fondly remembered her years growing up in Malden, MA, living on St. Croix Island, and finally in Eastport.  She was very proud of her greater than 40 years working for the Passamaquoddy Tribe and cherished the memories and friendships of this time.  Linda will be remembered for her love of family, family dinners, her visits to Florida and Nova Scotia, and watching the hummingbirds.

Linda was predeceased by her parents; her daughter Coral Surles; and her sister Mary Lou Barnes.  She is survived by her daughters, Susan and Rick McPhail, and Natalie and Jon Erb; her son Stephen Townsend; her brother George and Wendy Morrison.  She is also survived by her many grandchildren, Amanda Perry, Chevy Erb, Coral Erb, Dilon Townsend, Donald Hatton, Elizabeth Gove, Jersey Townsend, Kailey Townsend, Stephen Townsend, and Tegan Townsend; as well as several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.

At Linda’s request, there will be no funeral.  A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Restlawn Cemetery in Perry, ME.  There will be a celebration of life to follow at her daughter Susan’s house, 26 High St., Pembroke, ME.  Those who wish to remember her in a special way may plant a fruit tree or donate to hospice.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
