Obituary

We gather to celebrate and remember the life of Lester W. Pulk Jr., who passed away peacefully at his home on November 28, 2025, surrounded by his family's loving warmth. Born on April 20, 1951, in the historic town of Eastport, Maine, Lester was the son of the late Lester Pulk Sr. and Doris Pulk (Carter). His roots in Eastport ran deep, and his love for his town, its people, and its culture, formed the cornerstone of his life. Lester's path through life was guided by a love for community and a passion for craftsmanship. After graduating from Shead High School in 1970, Lester pursued his interest in boat building at WCVTI in Calais. His career at the Mearl Corporation showcased his versatility and adaptability, earning him the reputation of a "jack of all trades." Lester's work extended beyond the corporation, with memorable stints unloading and reloading ships at the breakwater and working on local boats during the scalloping season. His service as a volunteer firefighter with the Eastport Fire Department was a testament to his bravery and commitment to his community. His involvement in the annual Fourth of July fireworks display was not only a source of pride for Lester but also a cherished tradition for the people of Eastport. In his later years, Lester chose the path of self-employment, using his remarkable carpentry skills to enhance and preserve the homes of Eastport. Lester's generosity and thoughtfulness were evident in the handmade gifts he presented to friends and family each Christmas. His love for fishing and the simple pleasures of life were well-known, and his presence at the local happy hour was as reliable as the setting sun. Lester's contributions to his community were countless, and his spirit of kindness and generosity will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Sr. and Doris; and his brothers Kevin and Paul. He leaves behind his children, Sherry Bowman and husband Terry, Michelle Severance and husband Kevin, stepson Don Dunbar and wife Kathleen, stepdaughter Barbara Castro and husband Victor; granddaughters Arika Mitchell, Taylor Durant and husband Jason Durant; a great-grandson, Walter Durant; siblings Alfred Pulk Sr. and wife Pearl, Wayne Pulk and wife Jane; sister, Pauline Revels and husband Stacy; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of dear neighbors and friends who provided him with love and care. A graveside service to honor Lester's life will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 am at Hillside Cemetery, Eastport, Maine. The celebration of Lester's life will follow, with the location to be announced at the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastport Fire Dept in Lester's name.
