Laura E. Townsend, 97, passed away on July 7, 2025, at Remeliah House, an assisted living facility in Calais, ME. Laura was born on April 16, 1928, in Jackson, ME, the daughter of Charles Edward and Avis Mae (Cook) Reynolds.
Laura found her soulmate in Dana K. Townsend from Baileyville, ME, where they lived and raised their family. Together, they built a home filled with laughter and love. She worked at Joe Murry's Grocery Store and also as a housekeeper for area camps in Princeton. These diverse roles reflected her inherent versatility and her commitment to providing for her family. Yet, amidst her busy schedule, Laura always found time for her favorite hobby: bowling. Alongside Dana, she was a proud member of the Spednic Club, where their shared passion for the sport brought them closer together and created countless cherished memories.
Laura was predeceased in death by her parents and siblings, her husband Dana K. Townsend, son Theodore Townsend, daughter Linda McArthur and her three children Benjamin, Paul and Joanne McArthur, son Dana K. Townsend Jr, son-in-law Creston "Ted" MacArthur Jr., and her great-grandson Ted William MacArthur.
She is survived by her daughter, Katherine MacArthur; son Andrew L. Townsend and partner Freda Stevens; granddaughters Tammy Donahue and Partner Jullian Tozier, and Aselis Townsend; grandsons Keith A. MacArthur and wife Rene, Andrew Townsend Jr., Cody Townsend, and Evan Townsend; great-grandsons, Keith A. MacArthur Jr., and Jace Andrew Townsend; great-granddaughter Teagan Donahue; and great-great granddaughter Gretchen Gayle Greenlaw MacArthur.
