Larry Kenneth McIver

Baileyville – Larry Kenneth McIver, 69, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at Calais Community Hospital. Larry was born in St. Stephen, NB on July 10, 1952, son of Philip and Thelma (Cowan) McIver.

After graduating from East Grand High School in Danforth, Class of 1970, Larry moved to Calais and worked for Taylor’s Furniture. On February 27, 1971, he married Rhonda Sylvia in Danforth. Larry went on to work at Georgia Pacific as a boiler operator for over 20 years.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, four-wheeling, cutting firewood, and spending time at their camp on Deering Lake, and later on Spednic Lake. Above all, Larry was a family man. He devoted his life to taking care of them. Larry was particularly proud of maintaining their homestead.

In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his daughter Kelly McIver in April, 2021; his grandson William McIver in January, 2021; and a sister Marie Tucker. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Rhonda McIver; two grandchildren, Haley James of Ellsworth, and Lilyanna Quigley of Old Town; a sister Marilyn McIver of Back Bay, NB; three brothers, Roger McIver and wife Susan of Baileyville, Phillip James McIver and wife Marlene of Rollingdam, NB, and Randy McIver and companion Kathy Curtis of Baileyville; sister-in-law Dixie Sides and husband Kirk of Sherman; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
