Obituary

Larry G. Libby I, born in Princeton, ME, on June 19, 1962, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his home surrounded by loved ones. His journey on this earth, which began 63 years ago, was marked by a strong work ethic, dedication, and a deep love for his family and community. Larry was a respected firefighter with the Indian Township Fire Rescue for over 25 years, his courage and selflessness commanding awe and admiration from all who knew him. His passion for service extended beyond the call of duty, touching lives, and leaving a legacy that will forever be cherished. Larry's life was an exemplification of hard work and determination. From his early days after high school, he was known for his tenacity, often juggling multiple jobs. His career spanned working as a meat cutter for Princeton A&G and the Indian Township Shop & Go, Brian Donovan Construction, Chris Cochran Construction, and for Bill & Vance Lawless doing hydro-seeding. Larry was also a beloved camp caretaker on Loon Bay. Unforgettable is his entrepreneurial spirit, which led him to found Leg Spreader's Butcher Shop, a venture he worked on with his family, further cementing his place in the hearts of many. Larry is survived by his companion Mary Cilley, his four children, Nipon Libby and fiancé Rob Allen, Larry Libby II and companion Amanda Newman, Charles Libby, and Hunter Libby and companion Hannah Damon; his Godchild, Natalie Dana; grandchildren, Parker, Sophia, Sienna, London, and Sydney; the mother of his children, Amy Tomah; siblings, Lana Bailey, Matt Dana I, Dale Dana, Dennis Tomah Jr., and Jeff Tomah; sister-in-law Connie Libby; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Ron Wright, Doug & Chris Pierpont, Tiff Tomah, George "Squid" Folland and family, Oddy Dyer, and John, Roger and Joe Socobasin; and numerous other dear friends and extended family throughout Indian Township and Tobique, N.B. He is predeceased by his parents Charles Williams and Edith Libby, his brothers Rodney Libby and Louis Dana, and brother-in-law Larry Bailey. A Celebration of Larry's life will begin 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at his home, 842 US Route 1, Indian Township. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family to help with final costs may be made to Nipon Libby, PO Box 851, Princeton, ME 04668, or at Machias Savings Bank c/o Larry Libby I.
