Obituary

Kenneth Neal Kilbride, 67, passed away surrounded by family at Calais Community Hospital in Calais, Maine, on March 17, 2025. Kenneth, or "Kenny" as he was affectionately known to his circle, was a beacon of strength, kindness, and devotion. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, on September 10, 1957, he was the beloved son of William and Genevieve (MacDonald) Kilbride. Kenneth's journey began in Casa Grande High School, Class of 1975, in Petaluma, California. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Gunners Mate aboard the USS Waddell, where he wore his uniform with immense pride and honor. After his service, he returned to Massachusetts and embarked on a career with the Essex County Sheriff's Department. Kenneth's commitment to protecting his community was unwavering, as he served as a Corrections Officer, eventually retiring as a sergeant. His dedication to service did not end there, as he continued to serve as an officer with the New England Reserve Police. In his later years, he worked for Homeland Security, ensuring the safety of all at the federal building in Portsmouth, NH. Kenneth's zest for life was infectious. An ardent Boston sports fan, he was often found cheering on his beloved teams. But it was not only sports that captured his heart; he enjoyed the thrill of riding his Harley, the satisfaction of completing home improvement projects, and the serenity of fishing. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, sharing stories, laughter, and creating unforgettable memories. Kenneth's life was a beautiful tapestry of service, love, and adventure that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Kenny was predeceased by his parents, William and Genevieve Kilbride. Surviving are his beloved wife Sarah Kilbride of Calais, ME; two sons, Corey Kilbride of Calais, ME, and Matthew Kilbride of Hampton, NH; a grandson Nathan Kilbride; four brothers, Jack Kilbride and wife Tammy Thompson of Santa Rosa, CA, Michael Kilbride and wife Jackie of Salem, MA, Bill Kilbride of Salem, MA, and Mark Kilbride and wife Genie of Merrimac, MA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ellen and Bill Crowley of Baring Plt, ME, Ann Kinney and companion John Brownwrig of Saint Andrews, NB, and Diane Comeau of Lynn, MA; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion Pongo.
