It is with heavy hearts and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Kenneth J. Colson Sr., who entered into eternal rest on March 31, 2026. Born in Milltown, Maine, on August 11, 1936, to James and Alice (Denyer) Colson, Kenneth's life was one marked by unwavering dedication to his family, faith, and community.
Kenneth, fondly known as Ken, was a proud alumnus of Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1953. His sense of duty led him to serve in the Army National Guard for 16 years, a testament to his courage and commitment to his country. Ken's devotion to his high school sweetheart, Edith Fox, culminated in a beautiful marriage that spanned over seven decades. His professional journey saw him as a reliable dairy milk truck driver, first for Oakhurst in Portland, ME, and then for Anderson Dairy in Las Vegas, Nevada, for 27 years. Upon retirement in 1993, Ken and Edith moved back to their beloved hometown, Calais. Ken's faith was a cornerstone of his life, as evidenced by his dedicated service as a Deacon at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Eastport and other churches in Maine and Nevada. A man of many talents, Ken touched countless lives with his gifted piano playing and soulful singing. Yet, of all the roles he played, being a father and grandfather was what he cherished the most.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 71 years, Edith Colson; his son, Kenneth "Skip" Colson and wife Marty of Alexander, ME; and his daughters, Kathryn Colson Day and husband Allan of GA, Ellen Sanchez of AR, and Dianne Drane of GA. His legacy lives on in his seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice Colson, and his siblings.
A private burial was held at Calais Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 112 County Rd, Eastport. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's memory may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church Deacon Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services. We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photographs of Kenneth on his memorial page at www.MaysFuneralHome.com. In remembering Kenneth, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy that continues to inspire.
