Kathryn Theresa Devonshire, lovingly known as Kate, passed away on August 17, 2025, surrounded by her family.
A resident of Eastport, Maine, and its former City Manager, Kate was born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts. She graduated from Brockton High School in 2001, where she was active in soccer and JROTC. Her dedication to academics, leadership, and service led her to work with State Senator Thomas P. Kennedy and ultimately earned her acceptance to the United States Military Academy at West Point. A proud member of the Class of 2005, Kate went on to serve her country in the U.S. Army, where she achieved the rank of Captain.
Soccer was one of Kate's lifelong passions. From playing and refereeing with Brockton Youth Soccer Association and the South Shore Soccer League to building friendships that lasted a lifetime, the game always held a special place in her heart.
Kate had an artistic spirit and a zest for life. Whether beachcombing along the coast or creating imaginative pieces in her art studio, she found beauty in unexpected places. She often repurposed and upcycled materials into unique works of art, each infused with her creativity and joy. Kate delighted in welcoming cruise ships and tourists to Eastport, and she especially cherished the arrival of Navy ships—proudly hanging her giant "Go Army – Beat Navy!" Banner for all to see.
Kate will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her mother, Dale (Wise) Devonshire, and was predeceased by her father, John Devonshire. She leaves behind her partner Paul Terrill and brothers and sisters: Benjamin Devonshire; Victoria and Zach Farrington; Ronald Chapman and Kristin and Kerry Jackson-Lee. She was "Auntie Kate" to many beloved nieces and nephews, who adored her and will carry her memory forward.
A remembrance ceremony will be held on September 13, 2025, at 2pm. at the Eastport Port Authority.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward a memorial bench in Kate's honor. (Digital contribution may be sent via Venmo to @Kjax12 ).
