Joseph T. Knox, 53, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at home on October 23, 2025, after a long illness. Born on August 9, 1972, in Torrington, CT to Bartholomew and Mary Knox, Joe found his true home in the captivating landscapes of Maine where he laid roots and created many cherished memories.
Joe was a man of many talents and wore many hats throughout his life, from being a lineman to a garbage man, but he found his true calling as a fisherman. He cherished the solitude and serenity of the ocean and found joy in digging for treasures during home cleanouts. His career as a clam digger was more than just an occupation; it was a passion that allowed him to connect with nature and the community he served. Despite his illness, Joe remained active on the MayoClinic website, offering insights into his journey with MSA in an effort to support others facing the same battle. He stood as a symbol of resilience and strength, using his unique sense of humor to navigate the most challenging times.
In life, what truly mattered to Joseph was the company of his beloved wife, Shelley Knox. They shared an inseparable bond for 13 years, drawing strength from one another and finding joy in the simplest things life had to offer. Joseph is survived by his wife Shelley, his mother Mary Fox, brothers Dan, Bart, James, and Michael, and sister Kim Charbonneau, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Bartholomew Knox, and brothers Dennis and Steven Knox.
We invite those who had the privilege of knowing Joe to celebrate his life and share their memories and pictures on his memorial page at www.MaysFuneralHome.com.
